President's Message: Fall 2010
|
During the Summer, your GFWDHS Board of Directors has been busy. In June we held our major planning meeting, setting dates, lining up speakers, selecting sites, etc… Your TDHA President, Ester Ball and I attended ADHA Annual Session in Las Vegas along with others from across the state, representing hygiene in Texas. I can’t say too much because (you know), what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas! All kidding aside, it was a wonderful experience, full of information, learning and fun. Keep checking back to our website and GFWDHS Facebook page for all the latest coming out of Annual Session. In July, we held a New Graduate Transition Party at Cindy Crisler’s home. A great time was had by all who were there! If you missed it, you missed a lot of fun! New graduates – don’t forget that you need to transition your membership from Student to Active for FREE at adha.org. If you have any questions, feel free to contact any of our Board. You will need your ADHA Student number and your license number. We also held our end of the year audit and budget planning meeting. As is true everywhere, dollars are tight and we need everyone who enjoys the privileges of GFWDHS to step up and do their part. If you have not yet renewed your ADHA membership, do so now! Remember, the Quarterly Payment Plan has been reinstated making your dues much more manageable. Again, any questions can be directed to our Membership Chair, Cindie Pierce or any Board member. In August, we will be meeting with your elected Delegates to TDHA’s Annual Session to be held this year in San Marcos, TX. We have several newer delegates and your “seasoned” delegates will be preparing them for what to expect and how to best represent our membership. We will also be finalizing the Calendar, speakers and getting geared up for National Dental Hygiene Month (Oct), Sealants Across Texas (Oct), Elections (Nov), Legislative Awareness Day (Feb), Holidays, Graduations and more! Keep checking the website and Facebook page for updated speakers, times and locations. Come join us and be a part of YOUR profession! Sincerely, Kris Potts, RDH President, GFWDHS Your profession is not what brings home your paycheck. Your profession is what you were put on earth to do with such passion and such intensity that it becomes spiritual in calling. Vincent Van Gogh |
