President's Message:   Summer 2011

kris

Hello everyone! I hope this finds you all doing well in the Summer months. I would like to introduce myself; I am Faye Haggard the 2011-2012 President of Greater Fort Worth Dental Hygienists’ Society. I am from Stephenville, Texas and a graduate from Texas Tech University in 2005 and from Caruth School of Dental Hygiene at Baylor College of Dentistry in 2009. I am pleased to announce that we have such a great year ahead of us with our new Board of Directors and Committee Chair Members. Officer installation was held in May 26th along with the recognition of the elected Delegates for TDHA Annual Session that will be held in San Marcos September 29-October 2.

The Summer months will be very busy for the Board of Directors. Many meetings will be held to get us all ready for the Fall and Winter months of meetings. We will be setting dates, gathering speakers for the continuing education and planning the budget. We are looking forward to many exciting volunteer opportunities, such as the Back to School Round up on August 10th and Sealants Across Texas on October15th. Volunteer opportunities at Mission Arlington and Dr. Wherle’s Clinic are also available if interested. GFWDHS also participated in this year’s African American Wellness Expo in April. It was a success! I have to say I am truly looking forward to the wonderful things this year has in store for us all!

Congratulations to the Tarrant County College Dental Hygiene Graduates of 2011! We are all so very proud of each and every one of you! Your hard work and dedication has paid off! Good luck to you all in all that you do! But don’t forget to transition your Student membership to an Active membership through adha.org. Contact me or our Membership Chair, Cindie Pierce for more information. This is very important! Don’t forget to always check the gfwdhs.org website to keep current with any available Continuing Education courses as well as the current events with legislation and the passing of important laws and regulations. If savvy with Facebook; then become a “Fan” of the Texas Dental Hygienists’ Society. And always remember support your Profession, just like it supports you!

Sincerely,
Faye Haggard, RDH, BS
